At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Oppo announced the integration of Google’s Gemini AI across its first-party apps, aiming to enhance AI-powered productivity and user experience.
The company also introduced its Private Computing Cloud (PCC) for improved data security and outlined a roadmap for regular AI-driven updates.
System-Wide AI Integration
Oppo is embedding Gemini AI into key applications such as Notes, Calendar, and Clock, enabling voice-command functionality for tasks like note-taking, setting alarms, and scheduling events.
This shift is designed to make AI interactions a natural part of everyday smartphone use rather than isolated features. With support for Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash models, Oppo aims to enhance the efficiency of its AI-powered smartphones.
Strengthening Data Security with Private Computing Cloud
To address privacy concerns, Oppo introduced its Private Computing Cloud (PCC), a security framework powered by Google Cloud.
PCC enables AI-powered features such as AI Recording Summary, AI Search, AI Studio, and AI Call Summary to process data within a secure environment.
While the company has not disclosed detailed technical specifications, PCC follows an industry trend toward secure AI processing, similar to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute.
AI Updates and Collaboration with MediaTek
Oppo plans to roll out AI-powered updates on a monthly basis, starting with enhanced AI Search and deeper Gemini AI integration across its ecosystem.
The Oppo Find N5 will be the first device to receive these updates. Additionally, Oppo is collaborating with MediaTek to optimize AI processing at the chipset level, focusing on real-time performance and energy efficiency.
Call Translation and Voice Summarization
Oppo also previewed new AI capabilities aimed at improving communication and productivity. The AI Call Translator will provide real-time multilingual call interpretation, facilitating cross-language conversations.
AI VoiceScribe will introduce automated voice summarization for calls and meetings, simplifying transcription and note-taking.
AI-Powered Enhancements Across Hardware and Software
Beyond software advancements, Oppo is integrating AI-driven improvements into its latest devices, including the Oppo Find X8 Mini and Oppo Find N5.
These enhancements are part of the company’s broader strategy to align AI with both hardware and software, aiming to deliver a more seamless and intelligent user experience.
