Asus has launched its latest AI-enabled laptop in India — the Vivobook 14 (X1407QA) — aimed at bringing accessible, on-device AI performance to a broader range of users. Priced at ₹65,990, the laptop will be available from July 22 through Flipkart and the Asus eShop.

    Highlights

    • Affordable AI PC Launch: Priced at ₹65,990, the Vivobook 14 brings on-device AI capabilities to India’s mid-range laptop market, launching July 22 on Flipkart and Asus eShop.
    • Snapdragon X1 Processor: Equipped with the Snapdragon X1-26-100, Adreno GPU, and a Hexagon NPU delivering 45 TOPS for local AI tasks without needing cloud connectivity.
    • On-Device Copilot Integration: Copilot+ support and a dedicated keyboard key allow users to interact directly with Microsoft’s generative AI assistant.
    • Battery Life & Efficiency: Asus claims 29-hour playback from the 50Wh battery; real-world tests suggest 14–16 hours — comparable to Apple’s M3 MacBook Air.
    • Display and Durability: 14-inch FHD+ IPS panel with 16:10 aspect ratio, MIL-STD-810H rating, and a 180° hinge. Not ideal for color-sensitive work due to sub-300 nits brightness and 66% sRGB.
    • Privacy and Security: Features include an IR webcam with shutter, Windows Hello login, and the Microsoft Pluton chip for hardware-level data protection.
    • Connectivity & Inputs: Includes 2× USB-C 4.0, 2× USB-A 3.2, HDMI 2.1, 3.5mm jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. The ErgoSense keyboard supports AI shortcuts and precision gestures.
    • Strong Value for Price: With AI-first performance and accessible pricing (dipping to ₹45,000 on deals), the Vivobook 14 competes with Apple’s M1 MacBook Air while targeting budget-conscious AI users.

Positioned as an affordable entry point into the AI PC category, the Vivobook 14 comes equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X1-26-100 processor, an Adreno GPU, and a Hexagon NPU capable of 45 TOPS (trillions of operations per second).

It also integrates Windows Copilot, Microsoft’s generative AI assistant, making it suitable for users looking to explore AI-enhanced productivity tools.

    Performance and AI Capabilities

Under the hood, the Snapdragon X SoC delivers ARM-based computing efficiency, paired with 16 GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Its standout feature — the Hexagon NPU — enables on-device AI tasks like summarization, automation, and natural language interactions without relying on cloud processing.

This makes the device one of the more affordable Copilot+ certified options in the market, geared toward users who want AI-enhanced features without investing in premium laptops.

    Battery Life and Efficiency

Asus claims the 50Wh battery offers up to 29 hours of video playback, supported by 65W fast charging.

Independent reviews (WIRED, Reddit) have reported real-world battery life closer to 16 hours in light use, placing it in a similar range as Apple’s MacBook Air M3, especially in unplugged productivity scenarios.

    Display and Design

The Vivobook 14 features a 14-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 300 nits brightness, and TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light.

While the display meets basic productivity needs, some reviewers noted that its limited 66% sRGB color coverage and sub-300 nit brightness may not be ideal for tasks requiring high color accuracy.

The laptop weighs 1.49 kg, includes a 180-degree hinge, and is MIL-STD-810H certified — making it portable and durable for hybrid work, students, or professionals.

    Security and Privacy Features

The device includes a Full-HD IR webcam with a physical shutter and Windows Hello support for secure biometric logins.

It also features the Microsoft Pluton security chip, offering hardware-level protection and data encryption — notable for users concerned about privacy on shared or travel-friendly devices.

    Audio, Keyboard, and Connectivity

Audio is powered by stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, enhancing clarity for both media and video calls. The ErgoSense keyboard includes a dedicated Copilot key for immediate access to Windows AI features, and the touchpad supports smart gestures and Asus cursor precision tech.

    Connectivity options are,

    • 2 × USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
    • 2 × USB 4.0 Gen 3 Type-C (supporting charging and displays)
    • HDMI 2.1
    • 3.5mm audio jack
    • Wi-Fi 6E
    • Bluetooth 5.3

    Price, Value, and Market

With its current specs and AI-readiness, the Vivobook 14 lands firmly in the mid-range category but offers features typically seen in higher-end devices.

The ₹65,990 price point (~$799) has already seen limited-time drops — including an Amazon Prime Day deal at $549 (approx. ₹45,000) — making it an good option among Snapdragon X-based laptops.

Performance benchmarks place it close to Apple’s M1 MacBook Air (2020) in multi-core tasks, though with clear trade-offs in areas like screen quality and ecosystem integration.
