Meta is expanding its AI-powered translation tools to creators on Facebook and Instagram, enabling voice translations between English and Spanish. The global rollout, announced Tuesday, follows pilot testing that began after last year’s Connect developer conference.
The feature allows creators to automatically translate their voice into another language while preserving their tone, making the dubbed audio sound more natural than standard voiceovers. An optional lip-sync function aligns translations with mouth movements to enhance realism.
At launch, the system supports only English–Spanish translations. It is available to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and to all public Instagram accounts in markets where Meta AI is active.
Creators can enable the option before publishing a reel, preview or reject translations, and toggle lip-syncing on or off. Translated reels are clearly labeled, and viewers can manage language preferences in their settings.
Tools for Creators
Alongside translations, Meta is introducing new analytics. A metric in the Insights panel now breaks down reel views by language, showing whether translations help expand reach.
Creators can also upload up to 20 dubbed audio tracks manually via the Meta Business Suite, giving them flexibility to serve audiences outside English and Spanish.
Meta advises creators to face forward, speak clearly, and minimize background noise for best results. Currently, the system supports up to two speakers per reel.
Strategic Expansion of Meta AI
The launch aligns with Meta’s broader AI strategy, which recently reorganized into four focus areas: research, superintelligence, products, and infrastructure.
The feature also echoes the company’s work on SeamlessM4T, a multimodal AI model capable of translating across more than 100 languages.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the tool aims to help creators cross cultural and linguistic boundaries, increasing accessibility for global audiences.
