Adobe has offered an early preview of its upcoming AI-powered assistants—referred to as “agentic” tools—designed to simplify workflows across its Creative Cloud and Document Cloud applications including Photoshop.
Highlights
These new AI agents are being developed to support users in applications like Photoshop, Adobe Express, Acrobat, and Premiere Pro by handling multi-step tasks using natural language commands.
Unlike Adobe’s current Firefly models, which are designed for direct content generation, these AI agents are structured to function as goal-oriented collaborators.
Rather than focusing on single commands, they interpret broader instructions and carry out a sequence of actions across different tools. Adobe aims to reduce the manual effort behind complex workflows while maintaining user control and transparency in the creative process.
Task-Oriented Assistance Across Creative Tools
In Adobe Express, the AI agent acts as a creative assistant capable of generating promotional materials, maintaining brand guidelines, and responding to direction such as “make it more minimal.” This approach helps streamline content creation, especially for marketing and social media assets.
For Acrobat users, Adobe demonstrated an agent that can navigate and analyze lengthy documents, summarize content, extract targeted data, and convert files into different formats using conversational input.
This capability is intended to simplify document-based tasks for both individual and business users.
In Photoshop, the AI agent is designed to assist in areas such as ideation and editing. Users can make requests like removing a background or suggesting photo improvements, all through text prompts.
Adobe has emphasized that explainability will be central to this functionality, allowing users to view and modify each step taken by the AI.
Premiere Pro
Premiere Pro is already incorporating aspects of these tools through the Media Intelligence feature. Editors can now use natural language to search footage, such as by asking, “Find the part where the speaker mentions sustainability.”
Adobe is expanding on this with a forthcoming AI agent that supports editing tasks including rough cuts, shot selection, color correction, and audio balancing.
The upcoming Generative Extend feature, also in development for Premiere Pro, allows users to seamlessly add a few seconds to video clips, making transitions more fluid without disrupting continuity.
Photoshop’s Floating Actions Panel
A new floating Actions panel is also being introduced in Photoshop. This interface displays AI-generated suggestions such as object removal or depth-of-field enhancements.
Users can refine or execute these recommendations through natural language, making advanced edits more approachable, especially for less experienced users.
Enterprise-Scale AI Agent Management
For businesses, Adobe is previewing the Experience Platform Agent Orchestrator, a system that enables organizations to build and coordinate AI agents across different applications.
It supports integration with Adobe’s other enterprise tools like Real-Time CDP and Journey Optimizer, facilitating personalized content creation at scale and enabling coordinated multi-agent interactions.
Upcoming Showcase at Adobe Max London
Adobe plans to provide a live demonstration of its first Photoshop AI agent at Adobe Max London on April 24. This event will offer attendees a closer look at how these AI tools function within real-world creative workflows.
Release Timeline
While the AI agents remain in development, Adobe has confirmed that the Photoshop agent will be made available to a limited group of users later in the year.
Agents for Adobe Express and Acrobat are also in progress, though specific release dates have not yet been disclosed.
