Adobe has introduced a series of updates to its Illustrator and Photoshop applications, integrating advanced AI tools designed to streamline the design process for users.
These updates, which utilize the company’s Firefly Vector and Image models, promise to enhance creativity and efficiency for designers across various fields.
On Tuesday, Adobe announced the release of several new features for Illustrator. The highlight of this update is the Generative Shape Fill tool, currently in beta. This innovative tool allows users to generate intricate pattern vectors within any shape using text prompts via a new Contextual Taskbar.
The tool is designed to help users add detailed and customizable vectors to their designs with ease. Adobe shared a short video demonstrating how this feature works, highlighting its potential to revolutionize the way designers approach vector creation.
Adobe Illustrator now includes the Style Reference tool. This feature enables users to edit and scale generated vectors, allowing for granular adjustments to AI-generated patterns. Designers can experiment with different subjects, scenes, and icons to create unique styles that fit their specific needs.
Another exciting addition is the Mockup tool, also in beta. This tool can create visual prototypes of art on various objects, such as apparel and product packaging. The generated vectors automatically adjust to fit the curves and edges of the object.
All these features are powered by Adobe’s Firefly Vector model, which enhances the capabilities of AI-generated designs.
Adobe Illustrator has also received several assistive tools aimed at improving workflow efficiency. The Dimension tool helps users plot the correct sizes for their projects, while the Retype tool converts static text into live, editable text.
The Enhanced Pan and Zoom feature offers smoother performance, allowing users to zoom between 3.13% and 64,000% with ease.
Adobe Photoshop has also seen significant updates with the introduction of AI-powered tools. The new Generate Image feature, powered by the Firefly Image 3 model, can create a baseline image using a text prompt.
This tool is designed to help users with the ideation and creation process, providing a starting point that replaces the traditional blank page when beginning a new project.
The Generative Fill feature in Photoshop has been enhanced with an Enhance Detail tool. This addition allows for greater sharpness and detail in AI-generated images and backgrounds, providing users with high-quality results.
The new Selection Brush tool enables users to select, compose, and apply filters more efficiently, further enhancing the creative process.
The new Adjustment Brush allows for non-destructive adjustments to specific parts of an image. This feature gives users more control over their edits, ensuring that changes can be made without compromising the original image.
The Type tool in Photoshop has also been upgraded to deliver faster and less manual ways of creating bulleted and numbered lists, streamlining the text editing process.
The Firefly Vector model-powered tools in Illustrator and the Firefly Image 3 model-powered features in Photoshop are now available within their respective applications.
Some of these tools, like the Generative Shape Fill and Mockup tools, are currently available only to beta testers, but they are expected to be rolled out more widely in the future.
