Google is expanding AI Mode, its experimental feature in Search that allows users to ask complex questions and follow-ups for deeper exploration of topics.

    Highlights

    • Global Availability: AI Mode rolls out in English to 180 countries, expanding access beyond the U.S., U.K., and India.
    • Agentic Capabilities: Users can now book restaurant reservations directly in Search, with future plans for event tickets and local services.
    • Personalized Recommendations: Suggestions draw on past searches, clicks, and Maps activity, with customizable privacy controls.
    • Collaboration Tools: A new Share button lets users send AI-generated results to friends or colleagues for planning and discussion.
    • Proactive AI Future: Google positions AI Mode as an interactive assistant, aiming to move beyond search into practical, task-oriented support.

Alongside the global rollout, the company is introducing agentic and personalized capabilities designed to make AI Mode more interactive and practical for everyday tasks.

    Now Available in 180 Countries

Previously limited to the U.S., U.K., and India, AI Mode is now accessible in 180 additional countries in English.

This expansion allows a broader international audience to explore Google’s advanced search functionalities. Google plans to support additional languages and regions in the future, further extending the tool’s reach.

    Personalized Task Assistance

One of the key updates is AI Mode’s agentic capabilities, allowing users to perform practical tasks directly within Search.

Currently, the feature supports restaurant reservations, where users can specify preferences including date, time, party size, location, and cuisine. AI Mode then searches across platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, and SeatGeek to provide a curated list of real-time options.

These features are currently available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. through the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” experiment in Google Labs.

Google plans to expand agentic capabilities in the future to include local service appointments and event ticket bookings, making AI Mode increasingly proactive in assisting with daily tasks.

    Personalized Recommendations

AI Mode now provides personalized recommendations by considering users’ past conversations, search history, and clicks in Google Search and Maps.

For example, a user searching for “quick lunch spots” could receive suggestions that match their preferences, such as cuisine type or outdoor seating. Users can manage personalization settings through their Google Account to control how suggestions are delivered.

    Collaboration Made Easy

AI Mode includes a “Share” button, allowing users to send AI-generated responses to others and continue collaborative planning.

This feature is useful for organizing trips, sharing restaurant suggestions, planning events, or exchanging recommendations with colleagues. Users maintain control over shared content, with the ability to view and delete links at any time.

    Towards More Proactive AI

The introduction of agentic features signals Google’s aim to make AI Mode a more versatile and proactive assistant.

By enabling AI to handle complex tasks and planning, the tool moves beyond traditional search results toward a more interactive, task-oriented experience, enhancing convenience for users in their daily lives.

Users can perform complex queries, manage practical tasks, and share insights seamlessly, all without leaving the search interface.

The rollout begins immediately for English-speaking users in 180 countries, with additional languages and regions expected in the near future.
