Microsoft has introduced Copilot Shopping, a new feature integrated into its Copilot platform for mobile and web.

    Highlights

    • All-in-One Shopping Assistant: Copilot Shopping combines discovery, comparison, and checkout into one seamless AI-powered experience on mobile and web.
    • Smart Product Discovery: Users can ask questions like “best headphones under $200,” and Copilot responds with visual cards, reviews, pros/cons, and tailored suggestions.
    • In-App Checkout: Purchases can be completed within Copilot itself—no need to switch to retailer websites, streamlining the buying process.
    • Live Price Tracking: Users can set a price threshold and receive alerts when products drop to or below that value.
    • Shopify Integration: Direct checkout is supported via Shopify, enabling quick transactions with saved payment details and access to SMB merchant networks.
    • Merchant Program Launched: Retailers can now submit product catalogs to Copilot, enhancing product visibility through structured listings.
    • Personalized Recommendations: The AI uses user behavior, preferences, and data aggregation to offer relevant suggestions and price comparisons.
    • Microsoft’s AI Retail Push: This launch marks a strategic shift, positioning Microsoft in the consumer e-commerce space alongside Google and OpenAI—but with more in-app functionality.
    • Desktop & AI PC Integration Coming: While currently mobile/web only, Microsoft hints that Copilot Shopping may be featured on AI-powered Windows PCs in the near future.

Designed to support users across the entire e-commerce journey—from product discovery to payment—Copilot Shopping brings together real-time price tracking, personalized recommendations, and native checkout within a single AI-powered interface.

    Conversational Shopping Assistant

Users initiate the shopping experience by entering queries such as “What are the best noise-canceling headphones under $200?” or broader lifestyle prompts like “I just started hiking—what should I buy?”

Copilot responds with a curated selection of visual product cards based on aggregated data from reviews, technical specifications, and user feedback. Each recommendation is presented with pros and cons, performance summaries, and suitability for different user needs.

    Integrated Checkout and Price Monitoring

One of Copilot Shopping’s defining features is its seamless transition from browsing to purchasing.

When users choose a product, Copilot surfaces listings from various e-commerce platforms, identifies the most competitive price, and enables in-app checkout—eliminating the need to navigate external websites.

In addition, users can set a preferred price threshold via a slider. Copilot will monitor price changes and send alerts when the product meets the desired price point, helping users make informed, timely purchase decisions.

Strategic Shopify Integration for In-App Transactions

According to a report from TestingCatalog, Copilot’s checkout system already includes integration with Shopify. This enables users to complete purchases directly within the Copilot environment using pre-saved payment details.

The integration with Shopify’s merchant ecosystem extends Microsoft’s reach into small and medium-sized businesses, offering a conversational commerce experience built around convenience and simplicity.

Copilot Merchant Program Opens Access to Retailers

To support a growing ecosystem, Microsoft has also launched the Copilot Merchant Program, allowing third-party sellers to directly integrate product catalogs into the Copilot platform.

Retailers can submit structured listings with technical specifications, enabling more accurate search results and product recommendations. This initiative positions Copilot as a dynamic product discovery tool and a growing marketplace.

AI-Driven Features Tailored to the Online Shopping Experience

Microsoft describes Copilot Shopping as a “smarter, faster way to find great online deals.” The AI assistant is equipped to:

    • Provide personalized product recommendations based on user behavior and preferences
    • Compare prices across multiple retailers in real time
    • Trigger notifications when product prices fall below a user-defined target
    • Handle purchases natively through in-app checkout

    Expanding Microsoft’s AI Commerce Strategy

With the launch of Copilot Shopping, Microsoft is signaling a deeper push into AI-driven retail experiences—aligning itself alongside competitors such as Google and OpenAI, who have recently introduced similar tools.

Microsoft’s emphasis on native checkout, real-time price monitoring, and merchant integration differentiates it by creating a more cohesive, in-app commerce experience.

The rollout is currently available on mobile and web, with desktop availability likely to follow. Microsoft has hinted at future integration with Copilot-enabled Windows PCs under its new “AI PC” branding, which could make Copilot Shopping a key feature in upcoming devices.

Redefining Copilot as a Consumer-Facing AI

With this expansion, Microsoft is positioning Copilot as more than a productivity assistant. It is now evolving into a broader, multifunctional AI platform that spans search, communication, productivity, and commerce.

Copilot Shopping reflects Microsoft’s intent to embed AI deeper into everyday consumer interactions—reshaping how users search for, evaluate, and purchase products across devices.
