Samsung Reportedly Developing AI-Powered Image-to-Video Feature for Galaxy Devices

Samsung is reportedly working on a new AI-powered tool that could allow users to generate Image-to-Video, according to information shared by tipster PandaFlash.

    Highlights

Samsung is reportedly developing an AI-powered image-to-video tool that converts still images into short animated clips, possibly arriving with One UI 8.0.
The feature may be part of the Galaxy AI suite, expanding on existing creative tools like Sketch to Image and Generative Edit.
Samsung has not officially confirmed the tool or its release date, but leaks suggest it could debut with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July 2025.
The image-to-video feature is expected to enhance—not completely regenerate—images with stylistic motion, similar to Honor’s recent implementation.
Samsung may collaborate with Google’s AI models, such as Gemini or Veo 2, mirroring past partnerships in generative AI.
A separate AI-driven video summarization tool is also reportedly in development, aimed at condensing long-form videos from platforms like YouTube and Vimeo.
These updates signal a deeper integration of generative AI across Samsung’s mobile ecosystem, blending creativity with productivity enhancements.

This potential feature may be integrated into the Galaxy AI suite as part of the upcoming One UI 8.0 update, though Samsung has not officially confirmed its development or release timeline.

According to the leak, the tool would enable users to select an image from their gallery and convert it into a brief animated clip using artificial intelligence.

While technical specifics have not been disclosed, the functionality is expected to produce a few seconds of motion content, likely designed to enhance rather than completely transform the original image.

This tool would represent a new direction for Samsung’s Galaxy AI capabilities, which have so far focused on features like Sketch to Image, Generative Edit, and Circle to Search—developed in collaboration with Google.

The addition of image-to-video generation could broaden the creative use cases for Galaxy smartphones.

Context in the Market and Potential Google Integration

The reported development comes shortly after similar announcements by other tech companies. Honor recently unveiled an image-to-video feature in its 400 series smartphones, powered by Google’s Veo 2 video generation model.

TikTok has also introduced AI-generated video enhancements based on still images. Given Samsung’s history of AI collaborations with Google, there is speculation that the company might use Google’s Gemini AI or Veo 2 technology in its own implementation.

While it remains unclear whether Samsung’s approach will focus on stylized animation or more advanced generative video synthesis, early indications suggest it will serve as a creative enhancement rather than producing fully synthetic video content from scratch.

This would place it more in line with Honor’s implementation, which emphasizes stylistic motion effects over full generative storytelling.

AI Video Summarization Tool Also in Development

In addition to the image-to-video tool, Samsung is reportedly exploring an AI-driven video summarization feature. This tool would provide users with concise summaries of longer videos from platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo.

If released, it would further support Samsung’s focus on multimodal AI tools aimed at improving productivity and media consumption within its device ecosystem.

One UI 8.0 and Anticipated Timeline

While Samsung has yet to confirm any of these features officially, the image-to-video tool is expected to be part of the One UI 8.0 update.

This update may debut alongside the launch of Samsung’s next-generation foldable devices—the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7—rumored for release in July 2025.

If included, these features would reflect Samsung’s ongoing works to expand the Galaxy AI suite and integrate generative AI tools more deeply across its devices.
