Samsung is extending the availability of its One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, to a broader range of devices. Initially introduced with the Galaxy S25 series, the update was first rolled out to the Galaxy S23 lineup and newer models.
Highlights
Now, it is set to reach older flagship devices, including the Galaxy S22 and S21 series, as well as Samsung’s foldable and tablet lineup.
According to an official newsroom post, the update will begin rolling out to the Galaxy S24 series in Singapore on April 14.
Samsung has also scheduled the update for Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 users in India starting April 7. While an exact timeline for other models has not been confirmed, more regions and devices are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
Expanded Device Eligibility
The updated eligibility list includes multiple Samsung flagship devices across different categories. Apart from the Galaxy S21, S22, and S23 series, the rollout extends to Samsung’s foldable lineup, covering Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models dating back to the Fold 3 and Flip 3.
Additionally, Samsung’s tablets, including the Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S9, and Tab S8 series, will also receive the update.
This expansion marks a shift from the initial plan, which only confirmed One UI 7 for the latest flagship smartphones and tablets, ensuring a wider user base can access the latest software advancements.
Features of One UI 7
Enhanced AI Integration
One UI 7 introduces significant AI-driven improvements, including the integration of Google’s Gemini assistant as the default AI. This enhancement enables more intuitive multi-app interactions and improved natural language searches within the Settings app, streamlining navigation and usability.
Now Bar and Now Brief
The update also debuts the “Now Bar,” a feature that provides persistent notifications on the lock screen, offering real-time updates from apps such as navigation services and sports scores.
Users can customize the Now Bar through the Settings menu, selecting which apps appear. Additionally, the “Now Brief” widget leverages AI to provide personalized updates, including weather forecasts, calendar events, and news, based on user habits and preferences.
Security and Privacy Enhancements
Samsung has introduced several security-focused features in One UI 7 to enhance user data protection.
The Knox Matrix dashboard provides a comprehensive security status overview for connected Samsung devices, including smartphones, TVs, and smart home appliances.
Users can now generate passkeys for Samsung account authentication, offering a faster and more secure login method.
An “Identity Check” feature has also been added, requiring biometric verification when security settings are modified in unfamiliar locations to enhance data protection.
Rollout Schedule
The One UI 7 update officially began its global rollout on April 7, 2025, with the Galaxy S24 series being the first to receive it. In the United States, users started getting the update on April 10.
The inclusion of the Galaxy S21 and S22 series further extends the update’s reach, making it one of Samsung’s most extensive software rollouts in recent years. The rollout schedule may vary based on region and carrier, so users are advised to check their device settings for availability.
