Samsung’s Good Lock app, a robust customization suite for Galaxy devices, is preparing for a worldwide release alongside the stable rollout of Android 15-based One UI 7.

Currently available in over 40 countries, Good Lock enables users to unlock advanced personalization features and tailor their devices beyond standard settings.

Global Availability Confirmed for One UI 7

Leaked screenshots on the One UI subreddit, corroborated by reports from SamMobile, confirm that Good Lock will become globally available with the stable release of One UI 7.

While the app is presently limited to the Galaxy Store, there are indications that Samsung may extend its reach to the Google Play Store, further boosting accessibility.

    User Interface and Enhanced Features

The latest iteration of Good Lock will debut a revamped interface designed to simplify navigation amidst its growing suite of features. Some of the key enhancements include:

    • Streamlined Interface: Redesigned for easier usability.
    • App Filters: A new filtering system for faster app searches.
    • My Page Tab: A centralized hub featuring a widget for quick access to customization tools.
    • Gesture Animation Tuning: Improved animations for a smoother user experience.
    • Edge Panel Customization: Expanded options for tailoring the edge panel.

    Expanded Customization Options

With 23 unique functionalities, Good Lock offers unparalleled device personalization:

    • Routine Gallery: Share and manage routines with other Galaxy users.
    • Independent Wallpapers: Set different wallpapers for the home and lock screens.
    • Dynamic Adaptations: App icons, titles, and status bars now adjust to wallpaper colors for a cohesive look.

    Additional Features

Good Lock continues to innovate with advanced functionalities:

    • Customizable folder icons and app icon shapes.
    • Enhanced air command options for stylus users.
    • Automatic video-saving features for external storage devices, catering to media-heavy users.

A Decade-Long Wait for Global Rollout

Since its release nearly a decade ago, Good Lock’s regional limitations have been a point of contention among Samsung fans.

The global rollout with One UI 7 addresses these longstanding concerns, marking a major milestone in Samsung’s commitment to its user base.

    Integration with Google Play Store

The app’s upcoming availability on the Google Play Store, alongside the Galaxy Store, represents a significant shift. A brief appearance on the Play Store in early 2024 hinted at this strategy, which could make it easier for users to manage and update the app via Android’s default marketplace.

Timelines and Compatibility for One UI 7

The stable One UI 7 update is expected to debut in February, beginning with the Galaxy S24 series. Beta testers have already reported partial compatibility of key Good Lock modules, such as LockStar and Home Up, which are undergoing rigorous testing to ensure readiness by the release date.

Growing Demand for Enhanced Privacy Features

Amid the excitement surrounding Good Lock’s new features, Galaxy users are also advocating for a native App Lock feature.

While the Secure Folder provides some privacy options, its app duplication system has been criticized as cumbersome. Samsung has acknowledged this feedback, hinting at potential development aligned with One UI 7’s privacy enhancements.

    Samsung’s Focus on User Feedback

The One UI 7 Beta Program has been a platform for active community engagement, with users voicing feature requests and reporting bugs.

The App Lock feature, frequently mentioned in user feedback, underscores Samsung’s commitment to prioritizing privacy and improving the overall user experience.
