Access to X has been restored following a significant outage that affected the platform’s website and mobile apps for thousands of users across the globe.

    Highlights

X suffered a major outage on Saturday, affecting access to posts, videos, and key services across web and mobile apps globally.
Over 25,000 users reported issues via Downdetector, with 69% linked to the mobile app and 23% to the website. India saw more than 2,200 reports alone.
Service resumed by 8 PM IST for most users, but some backend services, like OAuth login and premium features, continued experiencing degraded performance.
A fire at an Oregon data center operated by X is suspected to be linked to the disruption, though no official confirmation has been provided yet.
This was the second major disruption in 24 hours, raising concerns among developers and businesses who rely on the platform for real-time functionality.
No formal technical explanation has been offered by X, prompting criticism over the company’s lack of transparency and communication.
Developer tools and integrations remain partially impacted, with ongoing updates visible only via the Developer Platform Status page.

The disruption began around 6 PM IST on Saturday, preventing access to posts, videos, and key services on X.com, as well as on the iOS and Android apps.

Nature and Scale of the Disruption

Users encountered error messages such as “Something went wrong. Try reloading” and “Posts aren’t loading right now.” According to Downdetector.com, over 25,000 users worldwide reported issues during the incident. The distribution of these reports showed:

    • 69% related to the mobile app
    • 23% linked to the website
    • 8% involving server connectivity

In India, more than 2,200 users reported similar problems. Among those:

    • 46% flagged app-related failures
    • 38% experienced login issues
    • 18% had trouble accessing the website

X’s Developer Platform Status page indicated ongoing degraded performance in services like “Login with X (OAuth)”, suggesting that certain backend systems were still experiencing instability.

Data Center Incident Potentially Linked to Outage

Reports suggest the outage may be tied to a fire at an X-operated data center in Oregon. The fire, which involved battery systems, triggered a prolonged emergency response.

Although initial service impact appeared minor, it may have contributed to the broader platform disruption. Official confirmation of this link has not yet been provided.

Ongoing Technical Issues and Feature Disruptions

Even after primary services were restored, users continued to face intermittent issues, particularly with:

    • OAuth-based login systems
    • Direct messaging functionality
    • Premium service features and notifications

According to X’s Developer Platform Status, some platform services remained in a degraded state beyond the core outage period, affecting both individual and business users.

Second Major Disruption in 24 Hours

This was the second significant outage X experienced within a 24-hour period. A prior incident lasted approximately 1.5 hours and concluded late Friday night.

The recurrence of these issues has raised concerns among developers and users who depend on X for integrations, communications, and real-time updates.

Although the company has cited data center challenges as a contributing factor, it has not yet issued a formal statement detailing the technical causes.

    Platform Transparency

The lack of official communication regarding the outages has prompted growing concerns among users.

Many took to other platforms to question X’s infrastructure reliability and transparency. Developers and frequent users have expressed frustration over the repeated disruptions and limited updates from the company.

As of now, no formal public statement has been issued by X. The Developer Platform’s incident history page continues to show ongoing investigations into the matter. Users seeking real-time information can monitor updates there.

While services have largely been restored, the two consecutive outages highlight potential infrastructure or scaling issues that the platform will need to address to ensure continued reliability.
