Motorola has introduced a significant update to its Moto AI assistant, releasing new artificial intelligence features while strengthening collaborations with companies including Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Perplexity.
Highlights
Still in beta, this rollout aims to enhance the assistant’s functionality across select devices, aligning Motorola more closely with the evolving landscape of AI-powered smartphones.
Originally launched as an open beta in December 2024, Moto AI is now reaching a broader group of users with four additional features: Next Move, Playlist Studio, Image Studio, and Look and Talk.
Each is designed to make the assistant more responsive, creative, and user-friendly, reflecting feedback from early testers.
Next Move is a context-sensitive assistant tool that provides suggestions based on what’s currently visible on the user’s screen.
It aims to guide users through potential next steps in real time. Playlist Studio allows users to create personalized playlists either by typing prompts or referencing content displayed on screen.
The feature supports nuanced requests, such as curating themed music lists for specific moods or events.
Image Studio introduces text-to-image capabilities, enabling users to create avatars, stickers, and wallpapers from simple prompts.
These can be immediately shared via social or messaging platforms. Look and Talk, exclusive to the Razr 60 Ultra, lets users activate Moto AI through eye contact, even when the phone is positioned in stand or tent mode. This hands-free function is supported by full voice interaction.
In addition to feature updates, Motorola is expanding its ecosystem through multiple partnerships. A key integration is with Google, incorporating its Gemini and Gemini Live models directly into Moto AI.
Razr series users will have access to Gemini from the external display, while eligible devices come with a complimentary three-month trial of Google One AI Premium, which includes Gemini Advanced, Gemini in Workspace, and 2TB of storage.
Microsoft Copilot is also being embedded into Moto AI on select models, including the Razr Ultra and Edge 60 Pro, offering users an additional conversational assistant option.
Motorola is also preparing for Meta’s Smart Connect app integration through the Meta Horizon Store, allowing Moto users to view apps and notifications within Meta’s mixed-reality environment.
Another significant addition is Motorola’s partnership with Perplexity, integrating its AI-powered search engine into Moto AI. Users conducting web-based searches can select an “Explore with Perplexity” option to receive structured responses.
For new users, devices released after March 3 will include a three-month free trial of Perplexity Pro.
Moto AI’s beta version is now available on more Razr and Edge models. Existing features — such as Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This — are being refined to better match usage patterns and user needs.
The focus remains on developing AI tools that feel natural and are contextually helpful in daily scenarios.
